Alderney Nomads 0 – 6 Northerners
The Nomads returned to action on Saturday having not played a game since December 10th with little training due to the inclement weather combined with the need of winter training facilities.
It was cold but quite a still day, Northerners were the visitors, on decent form and closing in on the top spot. With just 5 minutes on the clock North scored with a shot outside of the box by Mollet that Carre did get a hand to but couldn’t stop the ball from going into the net. As the game settled down the home side rode their luck a little and were starting to make inroads into Norths half and penalty area, speculative shots from Liam Connor went over. They did come close to finding an equaliser with the lively Dante Walker had a shot that came so close to beating the keeper, he was adjudged to have made a fingertip save. A series of home corners
more pressure applied with one nearly swinging in again from Walker. But the main talking point of the half was the challenge on veteran Andrew Lawrence when he was through on goal, most thought the offender should have received a red instead of the yellow card issued. Andy was clearly struggling after this however he did make it through to half time and into the 2nd half before being replaced by Dillan Dupont.
Half Time Alderney 0 – 1 Northerners
A different story in the 2 nd half, North scored from an early corner River Marsh, from then on it was one way traffic unfortunately, with fitness gaps showing it was backs against the wall for the Nomads goals from Rihoy, Le Huray and Kyle Smith x2 made the score 0-6 it could have been a few more. Tough times for the Nomads, who were missing Florin Lungo and the injured John Adamson who hopes to make a return soon.
