EYES down..Looking! was the shout from veteran Bingo caller Dougal Bohan, Station manager of Quay FM Radio, on Good Friday evening in the Island Hall. The Alderney Football Club attracted a ‘full house’ after the word got out out that the top prize of the evening was £500 cash .

There was  a queue to buy tickets for the long table of tombola  prizes and the top prize in the raffle was a month’s supply  of chocolate and easter eggs in a big basket which was won by Margaret Robberts ,from the Banquage.  Overall, the club raised a highly creditable  £1,700 on the night .

The promise of a big payout meant that there was around 130 people  between the ages of eight and 80  who eagerly  filled every available table.  The main £500 prize  was donated by an anonymous club supporter and ,as the evening progressed the cash for a ‘line’  and a ‘full house’ steadily increased until the ‘big one’ at the end .

As the numbers were being ticked off on the last ticket  you could have heard a pin drop and then Dominika Jakubowska almost jumped in the air as her last number was called. Collecting her big Easter  bonus from Dougal Bohan together with Aleks, her nine-year-old  daughter … Dominika , who lives in Newtown and  works  at the  London  House showroom in the The Cutting, hinted that the money might go towards a holiday …perhaps in her native Poland?

Club vice -chairman Billy Bohan ,who attended the evening, said he was thrilled with the result and the money raised would help towards the high cost of the team’s travel to ‘away’ matches in Guernsey.
